House of Light
A lighthouse mural where neighbours' happy memories light up with every lightning strike on Earth.
A large scale public mural on Roker Pier lighthouse used augmented reality to display residents' submitted happy memories as glowing virtual bottles. The memories only illuminated when lightning struck somewhere in the world.
This poetic, co-created digital layer linked individual joy to global natural events, and gave the town something of its own to be proud of. The work became a celebrated local talking point and led to further community and civic engagement.
