Music composed live from the air we breathe.
Pollution Piano is a series of networked musical artworks that translate real time air quality data into evolving compositions. Environmental conditions shape the tone, tempo and atmosphere of the music, so audiences can hear the invisible state of the air around them. The work reframes climate data as a shared emotional experience rather than a set of statistics.
It takes two forms. A transportable piano sculpture with an augmented reality layer, and a large scale immersive screen installation. The AR layer works anywhere on Earth, so you can stand in one city and hear the air in your own hometown.
